If you practice meditation, you have probably heard about binaural beats. This is a modern technology that allows you to enter into a meditative state. Unlike traditional methods, when using binaural stimulation,  immersion is quick and easy. The developers claim there is no need for long-term training of skills development or fightingt against extraneous thoughts and doubts about the correctness of the actions performed. This sounds so incredible! But can binaural beats really give us relaxation and quality rest? Or they can harm our bodies? In this article, you’ll find the answers to these questions.

What Are Binaural Beats?

Binaural beats is a brainwave synchronization technology. They exist only in the brain and are not really “rhythms” in the usual sense. The essence is as follows: each ear at the same time catches a little different sound, and the brain combines the frequencies into one, creating a “rhythm”. For example, the left ear catches 210 Hz, and the right ear — 200 Hz. In this case, the brain creates a “rhythm” frequency of 10 HZ — it is just right for the meditative state. If you need “to recharge your batteries” and focus on your work or sports, you need 16 Hz frequency.

You should remember that binaural stimulation does not work without headphones. If you just play 2 different frequencies, they remain separate sounds. But only when they are fed in isolation to different ears, the brain begins to generate a new “sound” with a frequency equal to the difference between the frequencies of the sounds.

How Does It Work?

When the frequency is supplied continuously for 7 minutes, the frequency of the brain is synchronized with it. This is a natural reaction, which was known to ancient civilizations. They immersed the audience in a state of hypnosis with the help of rhythmic drumming. Now the same function is performed by rhythms that you can hear in Nightclubs. Each phase of the waves refers to a different state of the body. There are 5 main binaural beats.

Gamma waves

Gamma binaural beats are the fastest fluctuations. They range from 30 to 170 Hz.

Gamma waves are associated with increased activity, emotional perception of the environment, moments of awareness of something, fear.

Beta waves

The frequency of beta waves varies between 14 and 42 Hz. This effect on the brain makes the body stay awake, wake up, focus.

People use Beta waves to treat depression, poor selective attention, problems with remembering various information.

Alpha waves

The appearance of alpha waves begins when your eyes are closed and you are in a passive and relaxed state.

Bioelectrical oscillations slow down and there are bursts of alpha waves, the frequency of which varies in the range from 8 to 13 Hz.

Theta waves

Theta waves occur during the transition from complete peace and tranquility to drowsiness. The oscillation frequency becomes moderate and more rhythmic, from 4 to 8 Hz.

Binaural beats of theta waves are accompanied by the appearance of visual images that can be taken from memories or fantasies. This is so-called dream-like images.

Theta state allows you to open access to the unconscious part of the mind, so at this moment various creative ideas, unexpected insights, new associations are born.

Delta waves

Delta waves dominate when you are falling asleep. Their frequency is less than 4 Hz.

Some people can be in the Delta state without losing awareness. This equates to a deep trance.

How To Use Binaural Beats?

All you need is a computer, smartphone or other gadgets, as well as headphones. You need to get comfortable, close your eyes and relax. You should listen to binaural beats for at least 7 minutes — this time is necessary to synchronize your brain with the external frequency. For best results, you should meditate from 15 minutes to half an hour. You can do this with your eyes open, focusing on a specific object — for example, on a burning candle. However, it is easier for beginners to meditate with their eyes closed – so it is easier not to be distracted.

When listening to audio, you will not hear the rhythms themselves. It will be a soothing melody or the sounds of nature — this music helps to relax and immerse in a state of consciousness suitable for meditation.

DO NOT listen to binaural beats while driving. It slows down reflexes, which can be dangerous on the road.

DO NOT listen to such beats when you’re doing intellectual work. Since the meditative state is incompatible with rapid critical thinking, which is focused on performing a specific action.

Negative aspects

It is believed that binaural beats are absolutely safe. This technology uses the same frequency at which the brain works during meditation. Natural frequencies influence electrochemical processes in the brain, immersing it in a meditative, deeply relaxed state.

But you should understand that all computer programs, technologies, and techniques in this area are aimed at commercial demand. In fact, pure binaural beats are neuroacoustic drugs.

It is also believed that binaural beats can cause harm to your body. They can be dangerous for teenagers because at this age the brain is not able to perceive even a minor pathology without consequences. The fact is that in nature pure binaural beats do not occur. The body is not familiar with them, they are not natural for it. Since “acquaintance” and “interaction” occurs in the brain, the consequences can be serious for the whole body.

The Bottom Line

Many experiments show that treatment with binaural beats can be very effective in eliminating mental and emotional problems. But keep in mind that such therapy has contraindications and should be used carefully. Gayatri has three names that exist in the human soul:

If one reaches harmony in his thoughts (intention), speech and actions, there are three types of divine energy that live within him — Gayatri, Sarasvati, and Savitri.

The Gayatri mantra consists of three parts:

  • deity worship;
  • meditation;
  • prayer.

The initial words of the Holy text refer to the worship of the divine. The word “dhīmahi” denotes a meditative state. The remaining 4 words express a prayerful appeal to God with a request for the gift of spiritual abilities and insight.

The constant practice of Gayatri mantra brings concrete results:

  • getting rid of ailments;
  • protection from evil and troubles;
  • dreams come true;
  • the awakening of the spiritual mind.

Gayatri Mantra: Meaning and Translation

The sacred text of Gayatri mantra is:

oṃ bhūr bhuvaḥ svaḥ

There are several translations of Gayatri mantra. Consider the translation and the meaning below as one of the versions:

Oṃ is the source of creation, the Parabrahman;

Bhūr – the physical world;

Bhuvaḥ – the middle world, the astral plane;

Svaḥ – the celestial world;

Tat – Brahman, God;

Savitur – from which the creation came;

Vareṇyaṃ – venerable;

Bhargo – divine radiance;

Devasya – the highest reality (divine);

Dhīmahi is the meditation on the deity;

Dhiyo – allowing to realize the Supreme truth;

How Do You Start Gayatri Mantra practice?

To properly pronounce the mantra, you must first listen to the recording, for example, performed by Deva Premal. The performance of this dedicated European woman fills the soul with bliss emanating from heaven. The first time you can just listen to the recording and feel how the sounds touch your body and soul. Then try to repeat this mantra together with the singer. By doing this, be aware of the meaning of every sacred syllable.


It is the best to chant the mantra in the Lotus position with a straight spine. You cannot sit or stand with your back bent, because it is through the spine that the divine energy flows through the top of the head from the Universe. Watch your spine always, because it is the root of life. A straight back is a guarantee of physical and spiritual health!

At first, try to practice alone, without any interference. Criticism of others or their curiosity will have a negative impact on the results of your practice. You can listen with headphones and repeat the words in your mind. However, when it is spoken aloud that mantra will have the greatest effect — vibrations in the body connect it with cosmic energy. In this case, the physical body becomes a receiver of divine energies.

Repetition in the mind also has its positive effect, but if you need healing you should consider chanting the mantra aloud. Try not to be distracted during this meditation.

What time is the best for Gayatri mantra practice?

The best time to practice is considered to be the transition hours — sunrise, noon, sunset. These hours are considered to be the most favorable for spiritual practice and meditation. However, you can chant this mantra at any time, but during these particular hours, it is possible to achieve a greater effect.

An important rule for the proper Gayatri mantra practice is pure heart and mind. It is unacceptable to treat Gayatri frivolously, it is necessary to feel the sanctity of each pronounced syllable. The practitioner should eschew evil, not to participate in evil deeds and to help others. Moreover, if you started Gayatri mantra practice you cannot use profanity, say bad words, swear, and quarrel anymore. It is necessary to strive for purity in everything – thoughts, words, and actions.

Yoga is advised to practice Gayatri mantra during water cleansing – in the shower or during bath rituals. The power of water together with the purifying power of the mantra will free your body and mind from all impure. Also, you can practice the mantra before going to bed, after waking up and before eating. After finishing Gayatri mantra chanting pronounce the word “Shanti” 3 times.

Tis the season for Gift Giving! What are the true benefits of giving? In what place do you give from? Why do you give? How does giving serve you and the ones you give to? What comes from a generous heart? In this article, I’m going to share with you what may come as a surprise, the benefits of generosity and what exactly is in the gift of giving.

Around holidays, birthdays, and celebrations we tend to give more, or we are encouraged to give gifts around these specific times. Do we really take the time to examine why we are giving and what intentions we have in our giving?

It’s important to develop and create a generous heart with no obligations or expectations of return.

Giving Just Because

One of the main reasons to give should be because your heart desires to. Think of giving not as a duty but as a privilege.
Giving out of obligation, giving to serve the ego, giving to get something in return or giving just because it’s the holidays will not be rewarding and will not carry the same heart resonance as giving just because your heart wants to give from a place with zero expectations or obligations.

The holidays can become stressful and financially unmanageable when you are pressuring yourself to give during these specific times. We tend to look for gifts during these periods and then it becomes obligatory in nature and this can remove the pleasure that comes with giving freely from the heart.

Giving when you are prompted from your heart, versus because there’s simply a holiday present, will always be more rewarding.
It removes the pressures of only giving during the holidays and spreads cheer year around. Many of us give during these specific times because we feel like we should because it seems most everyone else is giving during these times and because socially it’s the “thing” to do and what is expected or appropriate in our society.

I encourage you to give all year around for no reason at all other than your heart’s desire. Maybe a friend or a relative is going through a tough period and you want to lift their spirits, this is a great time to activate your generosity and send a small token or handwritten note to express your sentiments. Giving as a surprise just because you appreciate others meaningful presence in your life. When people aren’t expecting gifts and they show up “just because” the joy is usually immense from the recipient.

Small gestures go a long way. The gift of giving is the gift.

Generosity Enhances Your Life On Many Levels

You will receive an upwelling of joy and warmth that is bestowed upon the recipient when you give. The magic is reciprocated by the spirit of generosity.

It feels enriching to give. When you give you are opening your own portals to receive. When you hold, begrudge and constrict you block your own blessings and gifts of reciprocity. The more generous and giving your heart is the more space you allow for universal gifts to flow into your own life.

Giving from your heart increases your well being, transmutes stress and in turn boosts your immune system. Feeling the excitement and love that others feel from receiving your beautiful intentions and heartfelt expressions cause a multitude of chain reactions throughout your entire being. On a cellular, physical and spiritual level we are being activated in a positive energetic way. The world needs more generosity, we thrive on it, whereas greed has the opposite effect, debilitating ourselves.

There Are Many Ways to Give And Be Generous

Many times when we think of gift giving we think of physical things that require financial means, this is not the only way to give. In fact, some of the most precious and heartfelt gifts take little to no money at all. The manner of giving is worth more than the gift.

We all know how valuable time and effort is. We live in a busy world with many demands. This is why freely gifting your time and presence is highly valued.

  • Donating an extra set of hands on a project of giving back to others.
  • Taking the time to listen and be present when others are feeling challenged.
  • Creating handmade cards, crafts, artwork or just handwritten love notes to those you hold near and dear to your heart.
  • Drawing a salt bath with essential oils for a partner, friend or loved one after a long day of work.
  • Asking how you can assist others in their time of need.
  • Offering free childcare to a single mother, father or couple that needs time for themselves.
  • Watering plants, feeding stray hungry animals, giving them shelter and a kind presence.

There are endless opportunities in gift giving. Being creative and recognizing that any action, deed or gesture from the heart small or large is truly a gift.

Ultimately by giving to others, you are giving to yourself. How you treat others is a big indicator of how you feel about yourself. Make sure you don’t forget yourself in this equation. Many of us are guilty of primarily gifting others and leaving ourselves out or feeling guilty for giving back to ourselves. You are an important part of the gift-giving circle. Treat yourself with kindness,
compassion, and self-love. Make sure you refuel and restore yourself. Commit to showing up for yourself. Be good to your body. Check in with yourself regularly and make sure you are taking the time to give yourself the gift of cultivating healthy habits that enhance your mind, body, and soul.

2. Aromatherapy

It’s a very simple and accessible way to balance your Sacral chakra. The best essential oils you can use are Jasmine, sandalwood, rosemary, ylang-ylang, Clary sage, cardamom, and ginger. With the help of essential oils, you can balance the energy emitted by this energy center.

3. Yoga

4. Meditation

Visualize how a ray of white light descends along your spine to the base and then begins to rise. Stop it at the second chakra, two fingers down from the navel.
