I collect quotes. I like to look for wise sayings when I feel depressed or when I need to change something in my mind. Quotes inspire me and remind me of what is really important in life. I write them down on stickers and stick them on my desktop or mirror. For those of you who are looking for inspiration and wisdom, I want to share with you a selection of my favorite yoga quotes. I believe these wise sayings can be a great tool for inspiration. Enjoy!

Yoga is not a therapy. In the West many psychological therapies are now prevalent, and many Western psychologists think that Yoga is also a therapy. It is not! It is a discipline. And what is the difference? This is the difference: a therapy is needed if you are ill, a therapy is needed if you are diseased, a therapy is needed if you are pathological. A discipline is needed even when you are healthy. Really, only when you are healthy can a discipline then help. It is not for pathological cases.

The word yoga is the same as the English word “yoke”. So in the New Testament when Jesus Christ says, “My yoke is easy and my burden is light,” my interpretation is that he’s referring to yoga. It means “union” – Union of the body, mind and the spirit as one continuum of consciousness.
